Michael Glenn Hood, Jr. was born on July 5, 1979, in Mount Holly, New Jersey to his proud parents, Linda and Michael Hood. When Michael was one month old, he and his mother moved to Maple Shade, New Jersey. There they stayed with his maternal grandparents while his father went through boot camp for the United States Air Force. When he was three months old, the family reunited in Rantoul, Illinois. At nine months old Plattsburgh, New York became his home for the next couple of years until his father was transferred to Tampa, Florida.
Michael attended Preschool, Kindergarten, First grade, and part of Second grade in Tampa. He completed Second grade in Newport News, Virginia where he also joined Cub Scouts. Michael was a member to Den 2, Pack 313 of the Peninsula Council. In Virginia, he became a Bobcat.
Michael has called Texas his home since September of 1987. He continued in Cub Scouts in Den 7, Pack 571 in Dallas, Texas. While in Pack 571 he made the rank of Wolf.
At the age of 9, Michael joined Den 6, Pack 78 in Richardson, Texas. While in Pack 78 he achieved the ranks of Bear and Webelos.
Michael was invited to join Boy Scouts by Mr. Larry Cook of Troop 78 in Richardson, Texas. Michael was a member of Troop 78 for just over three years. He served as Den Chief for Cub Scout Pack 78. In Troop 78 he advanced through the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class. During this time he earned 10 merit badges.
In April 1992, at the age of 13, Michael moved to Frisco, Texas and enrolled in the Frisco Middle School the following school year. He joined Troop 298 in February 1994. Since joining Troop 298, he has achieved the ranks of Star, Life and now the coveted Rank of Eagle. Michael has held the following leadership positions within the troop:

Michael was elected to the Brotherhood of Cheerful Service, Order of the Arrow, on April 23, 1994; took his Ordeal on November 13, 1994, and completed his Brotherhood on October 21, 1995.
Michael's Eagle project was took place June 21, 1997. His project consisted of re-painting the fire hydrants in the King's Ridge sub-division so that the fire department could easily determine the size of the fittings in the case of an emergency. His project was arranged through Johnny Jones of the Frisco Water Works who supplied the paint and paint brushes.
